About Venus in Fur

            Venus in Fur Designs is an independent business run by Lisa McLain.  Through Venus in Fur Designs, Lisa accepts commissions to create distinctive works in a wide array of media including oils, graphite, ink, sculpture and painted porcelain.

            Lisa McLain has been commissioned to create portraiture of both people and animals, painted porcelain awards, tattoo design, illustration and even engagement ring designs by patrons throughout the United States.

            Active within the Northeastern llama community, Lisa has had the privilege of painting many nationally-known and award-winning llamas, including BAL Renegade, Tiara Misu, BAL Whiskers and Aspen Hill's Silver Magnet.  In addition to portraiture, Lisa has had work featured on the cover of Showring Magazine, painted porcelain awards for the New York Classic Llama Show and the Saratoga County Fair, and participated in the 2004 Llamas of Lludlow public works project in Ludlow, Vt.  She currently owns two llamas who reside at Dakota Ridge Farm in Ballston Spa, New York.

     

 

            In addition to a fine arts education, Lisa holds a BA in art history and classical archeology, as well as an MA candidacy in the history of decorative arts.  She has had hands-on study and performed research at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England; and the Wallace Collection, London, England.
